Diagnosis

Your First Visit

You’ll meet the doctor after filling out some brief paperwork describing you, your health history, and your health goals. At this time, you can present your coupon for a complimentary initial consultation. Then the doctor will meet with you to get to know you and determine whether you are a good candidate for chiropractic care. If we think we can help, an examination follows.

We’ll examine the way you turn and bend. We may test your reflexes and your hand strength. These and other tests, possibly including x-rays, help us locate areas of your spine that could be the cause of your problem. Our examination is thorough and will put you at ease.

We’ll study the results of the examination and give you a complete report of our findings. If we find that you would benefit from consulting a different practitioner, we’ll make the proper referral. Otherwise, we’ll recommend a program of specific chiropractic adjustments.

X-Rays

GetBack Chiropractic employs state-of-the-art x-ray equipment designed to produce precision films and to reduce patient exposure to the very absolute minimum. The chiropractic x-ray method is more exacting than medical x-rays. Anyone who has placed his hand in front of a light and watched his shadow change as his hand turns can appreciate alignment errors on x-rays. Thus, improper positioning of the patient can cause a false spinal angle on the x-ray.

Using Clinical Biomechanics of Posture® procedures, you are precisely centered and triangulated to your own center of gravity. Since the x-rays are so accurate, the chiropractor can make measurements of the vertebrae using precise geometric and trigonometric calculations and in ths way can accurately determine the exact angles present in the patient's spine.

Planning Your Treatment

After studying and presenting the results of your examination, the chiropractor will recommend a treatment plan. If you are in pain, this may involve frequent visits for a week or two. Treatment is a cooperative venture. It may involve doing specific exercises, stretches, or traction at home. Chiropractic doctors do not prescribe pain medication; you may be instructed to apply ice for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Tracking Your Progress

As your treatment procedes, the chiropractor will schedule periodic re-examinations to track your progress. These re-examinations are as thorough as the initial examination. After studying the results, the doctor may recommend a new course of treatment, or may find you completely cured. In any case, we’ll show you all the test results so that you can judge your progress for yourself.
